In some positive news, the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) has announced new funded occupational health training for small businesses across England. This is designed to give managers the practical skills needed to better support staff. The DWP are providing up to £800,000 worth of training to help managers spot health-related issues early (for example, increased absence, behaviour changes and persistent fatigue) and have productive conversations about health and workplace adjustments.
Managers can sign up for the voluntary training on the campaign website, which opened for registration on 2 January 2026.
If you need any support with any sickness issues at work, please do get in touch with one of our team.
