Is your company doing enough to prevent sexual harassment and bullying in the workplace?
There has been a recent survey of 2,000 employees published by Personio which found that 1 in 10 of those questioned had either witnessed or experienced sexual harassment at work but just less than half (49%) did not report it. 30% had seen or experienced workplace bullying but 44% had not reported it. 43% were worried about retaliation or retribution if they did report an issue and only 56% were confident that sensitive workplace misconduct situations would be properly handled.
It is well known that a diverse and supportive workplace is more productive and successful. Therefore, it is important to foster an open culture at work where people can report issues with confidence. Issues which are resolved quickly are far less likely to result in difficult and time consuming formal grievances, or result in employment tribunal claims. If you feel like your company could do with some assistance in fostering a more open culture, we can help you with implementing policies, training management to deal with these issues, communications with staff and/or wider training on diversity and inclusion.
