Soundbite: New data shows nearly a quarter of workers are hybrid working – are your policies up to date?
New data from a survey carried out by the Office of National Statistics shows that in May 24% of workers are hybrid working, a rise of 11% from February 2022. 42% of people now plan to work mostly from home and sometimes from the main place of work. This is an increase from 30% of people in April 2021. The proportion of people who planned to return to working full time in their place of work fell from 11% in April 2021 to 8% in February 2022.
Given the huge increase in homeworking, it is important that employer’s policies on hybrid working and home working are up to date, both to help protect employers and employees and also to have clear guidance on expectations during home working/how expenses will work. If you need help with amending or putting in place a home working or hybrid working policy, please get in touch with our team.
